Goddess Ganga is the holiest and most revered river deity in Hinduism. She is worshipped as the Goddess of Purity, Liberation, and Compassion. Flowing from the Himalayas, she cleanses the sins of devotees and grants spiritual liberation (moksha). Her earthly origin is Gangotri, one of the sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites.
