About Kedarnath

The Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is set amidst the snow-clad peaks of the mighty Kedarnath Range. Legends say that after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva for forgiveness. Shiva disguised himself as a bull and disappeared into the ground at Kedarnath, leaving behind his hump. The remaining parts appeared at Tungnath (arms), Rudranath (face), Madhmaheshwar (navel), and Kalpeshwar (hair) — forming the sacred Panch Kedar.
